Putting back the pieces...

Verbesserungsvorschlagsversammlung glockenspiel...

Hello..! It's james here, here. I'm a bit of a podcast addict, and I was gently sifting through the iTunes directory the other day when what should I chance upon but The North South Divide listed in the 'podcasts like this' category of a rather amusing show I enjoy. Well, wasn't I a little taken aback and pleased? Yes, indeed I was - it means the comedy bletherings Trev and I wrote and recorded still has something of a presence in this internet of ours.

What's a bit of a shame, therefore, is that Trev has had to give up his storage space (presumably to allow some more internet to be poured in for someone else) so all the delicious audio and many of the shiny pictures vanished from this long-neglected site.

Until now.
(dramatically placed in the middle of the screen)
I've had a bit of a rummage and an ask about, and managed to get hold of the remnants of the eight-and-a-half podcasts Trev and I did. They're all here for your delectation. If delectating is your thing.

I've also done a bit of tidying, so that all the podcasts are displayed in chronically chronological order on the right.. and there's a nice new set of links for you to click if you fancy something else amusing to hear.

Will there be any more comedy? I can only speak for myself - I've got some ideas for a series to put together, and I'm a regular contributor to quite a few other podcasts... but as soon as anything concrete turns up, I'll wonder who left it there and probably need a crane to move it.

You can also keep up with the goings-on of the North South Dividers in shortform, through the miracle of Twitter:
All the best to you and yours, then!

No more NSD.

Hello loyal NSD listeners. It has been a massive surprise and pleasure to me that so many people have enjoyed what we have made.

Sadly we will not be making any more, due to an unfortunate situation which I cannot see being resolved. I am truly saddened by this, as I am very proud of what we created here. I know that what we made, was of very high quality and made a lot of people laugh.

The files will be left where they are for the podcasts that we have already made, and they will still be downloadable.

I have to take this moment to thank firstly all of the listeners, who have made making this podcast a pleasure, tens of thousands of downloads and only one complaint. A statistic that I think that we can be truly proud of.

Most importantly, I would like to thank James Hart, I know that this is about to become a "without whom" but it is true. He truly made the NSD what it was, neither of us could have made it without the other.

Finally thank you to Beth Hart, who was the long suffering Kimberley Penge, amongst many others. She was important in the making of the podcast in many ways, and also one of our vital supporters.

Thank you, this may not be a definite final thing, but I am not expecting anymore NSD's I am afraid.

I hope that you enjoyed listening to them half as much as we enjoyed making them. I wish James & Beth good luck in the future.

I am off to work on some new projects, I will let you know more as I go.

One final thank you, to you, for sticking with us, dear listener. We did it for you. These podcasts gave me the confidence to start writing again, and I shall never forget the support that I have received.

Trev.

Merry Christmas Mr Bauble!

Welcome to the Christmas and New year edition of the North South Divide for 2008. This is special, as all of our podcasts are, but this one is special in an extra way; it is shorter than normal. I knew that you would like that.

Just over a week ago we discussed doing a 5 minute long Christmas edition, and here it is a snip at only 18 minutes! A credit crunch bargain ladies and gentlemen that we can all enjoy. See? We can raise interest.

We did make this in just over a week, from idea to now, so it goes to prove we can do it when we decide to. Thanks have to go to james who has toiled away while busy with proper work over the Christmas period, and both of us have also been ill. (In fact in most of the recording you can hear james coughing and sneezing and me succumbing to multiple organ failure. Still we carried on, that is how much we love you!)

If you want to get in contact you can use the email address, leave comments, join the Facebook North Douth Divide group or wave a stick at the moon, it is literally up to you!

The "Sky" is falling in!

So then, here it is NSD 8 - "Sky". Out in time for the next ice age, here it is in all of it's comedy glory. It is a different style for us, but we have to keep on moving otherwise we drown. Or is that running because the rhino will catch us? I forget. This podcast is a multi media extravaganza (Not Tony Danza, that's different) of truly epic proportions. Well here it is in audio, and when I wrote it I printed it out on paper. That's multi media isn't it? You bet yo' ass it is. Sorry, Bebo moment, if you want to listen online then click that link down there, and if you want to download scrolllllllly time folks. Enjoy responsibly, and this one is a little more adult than our previous ones. You might be okay with your kids hearing it, but please listen yourself first. Okay? Okay!

If you want to follow our Twitters then both of our own blogs have the details, you are more than welcome to join in. Email is comedy(at)mus-ic.co.uk, as always.

Both james and I hope that you enjoy this podcast and come again. Well, not cum again, that would be disgusting. And the cleaning costs....

Woodn't it be good?

So then, it's been a while. How are you? You're looking great, and that new haircut really suits you. Anyway, I invited you here to have a listen to the latest North South Divide podcast. Yes we are still making it. I know it's been a while, and we haven't called, but we hope that you can forgive us.
There actually have been some very good reasons, most of this was written in June/July just after the last one. Unfortunately james studio was flooded (see his blog for details) and then I was away for all of October on a training course, then my PC died...

But still WE CONTINUE!

We have started on the next one, so hopefully it won't be as long this time, but it is an intensive project for basically the two of us. If you are interested in writing, performing or anything else in the North South Divide please do get in touch. Thanks, and we hope that you enjoy it.

Salvage writes

Here we are, cool on the heels of the Rock podcast comes Salvage, the latest podcast from the North South Divide.

Like that difficult second album syndrome, Salvage took a little longer than we expected to produce, but that was due to james and me arguing, and our recreational drugs use.*

As is the usual state of affairs with us, as there has not been a podcast for a while, the next one will be along soon.

Rock Lobster Podcast!

It's gone..! TPN is no more, so the Rock podcast has gone. We will find it. Oh yes. (Please can you have a look under your sofa?)

You'll never guess what. Halfway through the preparation for the next long-awaited North South Divide, we were invited to wreak havoc on someone else's cherished podcast.. imagine.. Trev and me.. let out of our padded cells.. oh the humanity!

So, prepare yourself for half an hour of music and two oafs larking about, while over 150 miles apart. Surely that is Web3.0?

Listen.. learn.. eeyore*!

The reckoning is upon us!

Well, who would have thought it possible? A Christmas North South Divide special, what were the chances eh?

So while you are tucking into the last mince pie, why not turn off the Queen and listen to our podcast instead? We promise that there are no guest appearances, no huge budgets allowing us to do much the same jokes, but in a different country. None of that here, our budget doesn't stretch even to a mince pie.

I would like to take this chance to thank all of the people that make this podcast possible:

james, without whom... (Well without him, this wouldn't happen, I may have a lot of the ideas, but he makes me do it. Can I come out of the writing cell now please?) Seriously he has slaved away over a hot copy of Cool Edit Pro to do this in time for Christmas, a round of applause please.

Beth, for all of the help and support. And mainly for putting up with james and me in hysterics at inappropriate moments.

Also to all of the other people who have given us support over this first year of NSD's, from the other voice actors, to the people who gave us ideas for sketches, to the lovely listeners many of whom have been very supportive. Thank you, and I cannot believe that I am typing this, Merry Christmas. I hope that this helps get you through the Festive period.

Like a workaday prank on a new starter, it's been a long weight, but it's been worth it, just to see the look on the poor sap's face (sorry about that, Trev).

Yes... this blog post marks the return of North South Divide comedy podcast action after a long hiatus.

Here is a picture of both of us, (james on the left aurally inserting Herman Gonorrhea in my inner ear) from the Oxford B3TA bash.

The North South Divide

The North South Divide is a collaboration between myself (Trevor Ship) and James Hart. (Alternatively known, cryptically as trev & james. or sometimes, just for the sheer hell of it james & trev). We're two blokes who live either side of the Watford Gap in the UK.

Spoondance is the bizarre name for the episode known to its probation officer as 'number one'.
